“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

During the national lockdown to stem the spread of the Coronavirus in South Africa, CAST handed out over 2000 food parcels to people who could not work and did not have enough food to sustain their families. We very quickly realised we could not keep up with the demand, so we decided to look at which other organizations we could partner with in the communities where CAST operates.

In the Noodsberg area, we contacted a local farmer to find out if they knew of any farmers or organizations who could assist with food in any way. Amazingly, they linked us up with Pastor Udo Lütge from Ark/Umkhumbi Relief Project. After a discussion with Pastor Lütge, they were able to provide 38 families from Noodsberg Baptist and Chibini Baptist Church with 12,5kg mealie meal; 10kg samp; 5kg beans and 1kg sugar. These were families who had no prior food assistance, and who could be given according to their family size.

We so appreciate their help and support at this desperate time during the pandemic. If you would like to make a contribution towards sustaining needy families, our donations details are below. For more information, contact Sandy Reid at: sandy@cast.org.za or call (031) 2668830.
