Words of Encouragement: Luyanda’s Story

Today we share the story of a learner in our ECD programme who has made a great improvement in his literacy skills. Currently in Grade 4 at Mcopheleli Primary School, 11-year-old Luyanda Mthethwa from KwaDabeka had great difficulty with the basics, not being able to write the letters of the alphabet, and struggled to form words in English and isiZulu. Hope for the Future: Judith’s Story

Since joining CAST as a programme participant two years ago, 31-year-old Judith Abrams has made a valuable impact in giving back to her community as a volunteer for CAST’s Child Literacy and Youth Development programmes. Wordworks

A few weeks ago, we heard about Jupiter, who attended CAST's literacy programme training.  CAST's literacy programme is based on another programme called Wordworks, which was established in 2005 to support and improve early language and literacy learning among children from historically disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
